Despite overcast skies, strong winds and threats of rain, Kayak Staten
Island hosted a clean up of Buono Beach on Saturday October 25th;
Its My Park Day. Thirty four volunteers attended the clean up, and
removed enough trash to fill an entire
Parks Department sanitation vehicle.
In addition to the clean-up, rocks along the shoreline were moved in anticipation of the kayaks that will be launching and landing from Buono beach next year. After the clean-up we watched (inside the Alice Austen House) the film "City of Water", produced by Metropolitian Waterfront Alliance. The film explores New York's diverse and vibrant waterfront. |

| A group of seven Kayak Staten Island volunteers participated in City of Water festival on Governor's Island, July 26, 2008. We launched from Alice Austen House, paddled to Governor's Island, eventually landing at Red Hook. A great day to honor and celebrate the waterways that surround our City. |
